Elena Caballero is originally from Mexico. When she moved to the United States, her children enrolled in a Montessori school, and she fell in love with the Montessori philosophy. She began her training as a Montessori Assistant in early 2020. That training was such an enriching experience that she went on to pursue a Master’s degree in Montessori Education (ages 6–12) at a school in Barcelona, Spain. She completed her practicum at COCUY in Baja California, Mexico.
From the very beginning, she has worked with fellow Montessori guides from Mexico, Chile, Colombia, and Spain, focusing on the philosophy and scientific observation that lie at the heart of Montessori education. This collaborative network allowed her to share Cosmic Education and Peace Education—Maria Montessori’s primary legacies—across diverse socio-educational contexts. Her favorite aspect of the elementary Montessori environment is supporting children’s needs during the second developmental plane, such as nurturing their imagination and guiding them toward abstract thinking.
We are thrilled to have Elena at Alpine Montessori as an Elementary Guide. She practices the principles of Cosmic Education in her own life and shares them with her students, while honoring the bond between parents and their children's education—a practice that integrates school and family to offer an education that is present, connected, and conscious.
