These requirements are determined by Texas State Minimum standards and/or our Board of Directors.
We are licensed by the state to care for children between 3 and 12 years old. In addition to being at least three years of age, we look for readiness. Joining the Children's House environment requires the ability to follow basic 1-2 step instructions and interact with other students and materials in a safe way.
All children who attend our school must be toilet independent – this is a bit more than just 'potty-trained'. For us, this means that a child is remaining dry throughout the day, is comfortable using the bathroom with minimal assistance from teachers and most importantly, the child is able to recognize they need to go and make it to the bathroom in time. Due to how we are licensed, children cannot be in diapers at any time while at school.
Our school Board, with the advice of medical professionals, implemented a herd immunity percentage of 95% to protect our students/community. This does allow some students who have vaccination affidavits to still attend our school. At this time our school population is at the 95%, so we cannot enroll any additional students with affidavits. We are happy to add you to our waitlist!
We follow the process outlined below to ensure that both the family and the guides agree that our school is a good fit, and that this is the right time to enroll.

We will schedule a tour for your family to see our campus, classrooms and to meet with our Director and staff. We highly encourage the child to attend! Tours occur in the late afternoon, after the academic day is over. This is because we do not want to disturb the children during their work periods.
After you tour our campus, we will schedule a classroom observation for you and your child. This is a 30-minute observation that allows the parent to see their child in the classroom environment but it also allows the Guide to observe and work with the child to determine if they are ready for the classroom.
If the child is ready for the classroom environment and the family is interested in enrolling, we will send Admissions paperwork via the Brightwheel app. Once the paperwork is completed and the registration fee is paid, we will review it and decide on a start date.
