About

Alpine Montessori School provides children with a hands-on education that encourages independent decision making, sparking a lifelong love of learning.

Our Mission

Alpine Montessori School’s mission is to foster the unlimited potential in every child. Our students learn through self-directed, hands-on activities tailored to their natural development. We nurture children’s curiosity, independence, and confidence by giving them freedom to explore their interests and discover their strengths. We celebrate the unique gifts within each member of our community. We attend equally to the education of the heart as well as the mind. We promote social justice, global awareness, and peace.

Our Programs

Alpine Montessori School has three multi-aged classrooms led by certified Montessori guides: primary (ages 3-6), lower elementary (1st-3rd grade), and upper elementary (4th – 6th grade). We hope to continue our Adolescent Program for 7th and 8th grade students once enrollment reaches a sustainable level. We also offer after-school care and extracurricular activities, such as robotics, language, and music.

Our History

Alpine Montessori School was established in 1989 as a non-profit alternative preschool experience for Brewster County children ages 3-6. A Lower Elementary class of six to nine year olds (1st- 3rd grade) was added in 1996. An Upper Elementary (4th – 6th grade) was added a few years later. The Elementary classroom was physically expanded during the 2011/2012 school year to create a brighter, roomier space and give students more room to work. In 2018, the school piloted an Adolescent Program for seventh and eighth grade students.
