Primary Lead Teacher. Alpine Montessori is now accepting applications for a full-time lead teacher in our Primary (3-6) classroom for the 2022-23 school year. The position entails curriculum development throughout the year and supervision of the assistant(s). We are looking for a gentle spirit that embraces the tenets put forth by Maria Montessori, with patience and latitude that guides an academic program for our youngest students. Alpine Montessori is a small school serving children ages 2.5 to 14 years in Alpine, the heart of the Big Bend region of Texas. Our school will celebrate 33 years of operation in August 2022.

Montessori certification is required of all lead teachers. We accept applications from teachers currently enrolled in a Montessori certification program whose coursework and practicum may be ongoing once the contract begins with AMS. We may offer assistance in training for the right candidate with an educational background and experience in a Montessori classroom. 

Primary Assistant Teacher. Alpine Montessori is now accepting applications for a full-time assistant teacher for the primary classroom beginning August 1, 2022. Applicants must have experience working with children and knowledge of Montessori methods, or the willingness to train and learn all aspects of guiding children ages 2.5 to 6 with Montessori materials and philosophy. The Assistant works under the direct supervision of the Lead Teacher.

After-school Care Coordinator. Alpine Montessori is hiring an after-school care coordinator to work part-time (2:30 to 6PM, M-F) with our students who are enrolled in our extended day program. The ASC works to provide a safe and enriching experiences for the students in our care while adhering to Montessori principles and overseeing the duties of the assistant. This position also includes daily preparation of nutritious snacks and the completion of closing duties. The ASC works under the supervision of the executive director and administrator.

Alpine is a diverse community of close to 6000 residents, nestled in the mountainous Big Bend region of Texas, elev. 4475′. This area is home to Big Bend Nat’l Park, Fort Davis Nat’l Historic Site, Big Bend Ranch State Park, Davis Mountain State Park, Sul Ross State University, the Museum of the Big Bend, and the art enclave of Marfa. Alpine is host to several annual festivals, events, and conferences throughout the year.
