Montessori students traditionally start the year with the First Great Lesson about the origins of the universe. But this year, teachers decided to push this lesson forward, so they could spend the first days of school getting used to all of the new routines. In upper elementary yesterday, everyone said their favorite things about the new regimen were working outside and having so many personal supplies. Primary students enjoyed starting the day with yoga. And lower elementary students had a discussion about “roses” (happy things) and “thorns” (not so happy things).
